OBJECTIVES:
The main objective of this book is to uplift the knowledge and standard of Indian P&O students and to bring them as par with their foreign counterparts. This book is specially tailored for Indian P&O industry with accordance to their need and to upgrade their level of education. The level of prosthetics and orthotics education has risen along with the technical sophistication of the materials, methods and use of components. Now the time has come when all should join hands and bring back the glory which the Indians were once enjoying during the Vedic period of being highly scientifically sound among all others in the whole world. The main problem in India for P&O professionals are that there is no such streams that deal with the thing that we deal with i.e. let’s consider the CAD/CAM part that we have in our course curriculum, we need P&O components to be taught rather designing mechanical parts of any automobiles or machines, this is because we have to depend on normal mechanical engineers who are least consent what is needed for us hence, we suffer. This can be eradicated if we tie up with those mechanical engineers and share our ideas as in designing any mechanical parts of any prosthetics and orthotics components which is exactly done in this book.
In brief the features of this book are:
-This book is 1st of its kind that is specially meant for any P&O student as well as the vast Indian P&O industry.
-This book is prepared strictly with accordance to the RCI syllabus and standard.
-This book is simple in language and highly illustrative.
-This book can be a handy guide for any computer related problems.
-This book deals with Computer Fundamentals, Designing concepts with AutoCAD, Basics of CAM with details the parts and specification of any CNC machines, CAD/CAM in the field of P&O with details the generations of modifying softwares used, in details the different types of digitizers that are used, the carving machines and fabrication techniques with CAD/CAM systems.

Some additional points about the book especially for students:
- This book is specially written is a language that everybody can follow easily.
- This book only deals with the things that we (BPO students) should be concerned with.
- This book can be said as of the P&O Professionals by the P&O Professionals and for the P&O Professionals.
- The computer part makes us understand about the different computers and the latest technology behind it.
- The Auto CAD part is one of the best parts of all, a lay man studying it can also understand the CAD magic, it consist of chapters with special reference to design P&O components, exercises dealing with 2D and 3D drawings of general components that we use in P&O industry.
- The CAM part is not less than the CAD part it deals with hardware basics of any CNC machines that work combinely behind the success of the machine.
- The last part that is CAD/CAM in the field of P&O deals with the different generations of CAD softwares, different types of digitizers and the mechanics behind each, carvers and a special chapter to makes us understand the preliminary preparation how to scan a patient’s stump with the fabrication details in steps.
- Also there is a part that deals with the different types of leading CAD/CAM technology from all over the world.
